Next Tuesday: The Quest for Happiness
Starting a new year is typically a time for reflection and goal setting. To that end, Philosophy professor Maria Sanders explores how ideas of happiness have changed Western civilization through the ages.
Sanders’ illustrated
talk compares and contrasts major concepts of happiness and well-being around
the world, delving into questions such as: • Can money buy happiness?
• How does
engaging in one’s community impact happiness? and
• Why doesn’t the United
States make the top ten in worldwide happiness survey?
Attendees are encouraged to join in a
discussion of current measures for assessing self-reported levels of happiness,
specific findings reported to increase ones level of happiness, as well as
happiness projects undertaken by entire communities.
Learn to set your own definition of what it means to live a
full and excellent life on Tuesday, January 23rd, 7:00PM at the library.
This program is free and open to the public.
