It's Library Card Sign-Up Month!
This September marks the 30th anniversary of the American Library Association’s Library Card Sign-up Month.
Here at
Cutler Memorial Library, we team up with the Griffin Memorial School librarians
to make sure all of our 1st graders are given the opportunity to
sign-up for a free public library card. The 1st grade classrooms compete
for the highest percentage of students with library cards. The winning classroom earns a special visit
from Miss Carrie-Anne for a few stories and a sweet treat.
Signing up for a
library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong
learning. Encourage those students
around you to take advantage of all the services the public library has to
offer. From free access to homework
help, STEAM programs/activities, technology education, book clubs, and game
nights, a library card is one of the most cost effective back-to-school
supplies available and can save families hundreds of dollars a year.To see how much you can save, check out the ALA’s Library Value Calculator.
