Summer Reading for Kids

summer reading logoBring in your children, age 3 - 5th grade, and sign-up for 6 weeks of summer reading fun! Between June 30th and August 7th, Summertime and the Reading is Easy will have your kids reading, participating in crafts & contests, and attending other activities, making their summer extra fun.

Weekly activities in the Lazy Days of Summer earn children 4 points each. Participation in the Made in the Shade events earn 2 points each. Reading, or being read to, for 75 minutes a week in the Scorching Hot Book Clubs earns 6 points each. Track their earned points on the provided Point Log, and before you know it your kids are earning raffle tickets for a chance to win great prizes!

In addition, if your child reaches 36 points out of a possible 86+ (with 24 points coming from reading), he or she will earn this year's 3 final prizes: a sundae from McDonald's, a kid's meal from Bugaboo Creek, and a slice of pizza from Papa Gino's.

Top this off with 15 other fun events, and you've got yourself quite a lot to do! Children can take part in any or all of the activities--it's totally up to you. And did I mention it's absolutely FREE? That's right. Free, zero, zip, nada!

Stop by the library to register, and pick up your Summertime and the Reading is Easy Activity Guide and Calendar. You'll be glad you did.
