Just Wondering on Wednesday...

background image courtesy of biewoef on sxc.huWhat do you do when you're reading and come across a word or phrase you've never heard before? Do you jot it down to look up later, stop and look it up then, or just continue reading and forget about it?

I reread that page of the book to try and discern the meaning of the word/phrase. If that doesn't help, I would use a dictionary or online search.

Ignorance is bliss. For every new thing I learn I need to forget something to make room in my head.

If I don't get the gist of the meaning from the context, I make a mental note to look it up later. Unfortunately, my mental notes seem to self-destruct before I'm able to act on them...

I think that I will look it up, but end up not wanting to be bothered, so I keep on reading. If I get up to find a dictionary, I will end up putting in a load of laundry or something and well...there goes my reading time. Then I still don't know the word AND I didn't get to read.
