Author to Take Part in Book Discussion

Author Ron McLarty has agreed to talk with our All Booked Up group, via speakerphone, about his first novel, The Memory of Running! Librarian Ann McKillop is very excited to have the author as part of the discussion, a first for her reading group.

McLarty, however, has done this for a number of other reading groups. One member recently had this to say: "BRAVO!!!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed our evening together and Ron's reading of Norma's letter made the whole book come alive for me. I look forward to Ron's new book and I am now a member of his fan club. Many thanks for an enlightening evening!"

About the book: Meet Smithson "Smithy" Ide, an overweight, friendless, chain-smoking, forty-three-year-old drunk who works as a quality control inspector at a toy-action-figure factory in Rhode Island. By all accounts, especially Smithy's own, he's a loser. Then, within one week, Smithy's beloved parents are killed in a car crash, and Smithy learns that his emotionally troubled, long-lost sister, Bethany, has turned up in a morgue in Los Angeles. Unmoored by the loss of his entire family-Smithy had always hoped Bethany might return-he rolls down the driveway of his parents' house on his old Raleigh bicycle into an epic journey that will take him clear across the country.
