International Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th, and celebrating this holiday is fun for landlubbers and pirates alike.

Don't be a scallywag, join in the fun by learning to speak pirate, dress like a pirate and play pirate games!

Speaking Pirate
Don’t just look like a pirate—talk like one, too. With Mango’s Pirate course, you'll learn everything you need to know to parley in perfect Pirate.  When you're done with Pirate, take one of the other 59 languages available from Mango that comes free with your library card.

Dressing Pirate
Put on your pirate hat.  Learn to craft a pirate hat and decorate it as ye desire. Once that's done, don a swashbuckler shirt, strap on yar eye patch, grab ye hook, and wear on earring.

Playing Pirate 
First, get yar true pirate name. Next, change your Facebook language to pirate by: 1 logging into your profile and navigating to the dropdown menu on the righthand side to select the 'Settings' tab; 2 click the language tab and change it to Pirate. Then, pass the time at sea with some shanties and work songs. Finally, after ye have worked up a sweat with all yar carousin', mix up a cup o' grog for yourself and the kiddies.

Don't Forget the Kiddies
Get the kids involved by concocting a treasure hunt, challenging them to a game of Walk the Plank, or Pass the Cannonball.
