Page Turners Book Discussion Group for Tweens

Page Turners give two thumbs up for The Graveyard Book.
***
ThePage Turners book discussion group for tweens in grades 5-7 discussed Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book at their November 8th meeting.

The Graveyard Book takes place in a graveyard where ghosts raise a young boy in order to protect him from a murderous secret organization. Although several aspects of the book can be described as “creepy,” none of the Page Turners claimed to be frightened by the book. The book was described as being “kind of like The Jungle Book, but instead of being raised by the inhabitants of a jungle the boy is brought up by the inhabitants of a graveyard.” Our favorite characters were, curious Nobody Owens, mysterious Silas, and complicated Liza Hempstock.

Gaiman's The Graveyard Book received two thumbs up from all participating Page Turners, Last month’s Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby also met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction! Will we be able to continue this winning streak with next month selection, The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien?  We will find out on the Dec 13th Page Turners meeting.

Page Turners meet on the second Thursday of each month at 2:30pm. Bus transportation from LMS to the library is available. New members are always welcome. You can pick up December's  book selection in the Young Reader’s Room or upstairs in the Teen area.
