Get in a Flip Book Frenzy This Week!
Tweens and Teens--it's time to make those spooky or supernatural flip books.
What's a flip book, you ask? "A flip book is a simple 'moving picture' toy made as a small bound book with pages or frames with individual photos or pictures to show a series of movement. When the pages are quickly flipped the images will look as if the scene is moving." (Rosson House Museum) So, you'll want to decide on what you'd like to illustrate, then keep it simple so it's easier to animate. Be sure to use a minimum of 5 index cards, and bring it to the library by 6:00 pm on Friday. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Create-It Just For Fun
When I was a kid, you could go to a craft fair and find soda cans crocheted together to make hats. My grandmother made Oscar the Grouch finger puppets that were nestled in trash cans made from used 35mm film containers. I even saw a chess set once that was made from used individual communion cups and plastic jewels. (That one had me questioning old age...) While all of that sounded pretty clever 35 years ago, I'm pretty sure you can come up with something even better today.

Bring a blanket to sit on, and as always, children under age 6 will need their parent's help.
