All Booked Up Reads Wish You Well for June
All Booked Up is reading Wish You Well by David Baldacci for its June meeting.
Baldacci's 2000 novel takes place in the hectic New York City of 1940 where precocious twelve-year-old Louisa Mae Cardinal lives with her family. Then tragedy strikes–and Lou and her younger brother, Oz, must go with their invalid mother to live on their great-grandmother’s farm in the Virginia mountains. Suddenly Lou finds herself coming of age in a new landscape, making her first true friend, and experiencing adventures tragic, comic, and audacious. But the forces of greed and justice are about to clash over her new home…and as their struggle is played out in a crowded Virginia courtroom, it will determine the future of two children, an entire town, and the mountains they love. (from barnesandnoble.com)
Pick up a copy at the Circulation Desk, while supplies last, and join the group for a lively discussion at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, June 4th. You'll be glad you did!

May's featured novel is Nickel & Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. Copies are available at the Circulation Desk.
Acclaimed as an instant classic upon publication, Nickel and Dimed has sold more than 1.5 million copies and become a staple of classroom reading. Chosen for “one book” initiatives across the country, it has fueled nationwide campaigns for a living wage. Funny, poignant, and passionate, this revelatory firsthand account of life in low-wage America—the story of Barbara Ehrenreich's attempts to eke out a living while working as a waitress, hotel maid, house cleaner, nursing-home aide, and Wal-Mart associate—has become an essential part of the nation's political discourse.
