Peter Boie Was Tons of Fun!
Everyone had a great time Tuesday night at the performance of Peter Boie, the Magician for Unbelievers. Boie entertained a crowd of about 100 in the Litchfield Middle School cafeteria, inviting a number of people from the audience to assist him. This was the first time in 10 years that I've seen the children "rush the stage," lining up along the edge to get closer to the action. Repeated attempts to get them reseated were all in vain, as the magnetic magician kept drawing them back.

With summer here, many of you will pack up the family car and head to parts far and near for a little rest and relaxation. You don't have to drive too far the down the road before the kids start to squabble, (he's looking at me... she's poking me...), and ask your favorite question, "Are we there yet?" What you need is a distraction, a boredom buster, an audio book!

Try Your Hand at Divination with Professor Trelawney
While you wait for the final book of the Harry Potter series to hit the shelves, Professor Trelawney, instructor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, has a bit of divination for you to try.
You will need a pencil, paper, and a few spare moments to divine the age of a friend or family member based on their reading habits. It is highly recommended that you practice on yourself first.
- Write down the number of books, between 1-9, that you typically read in one week. Be sure you tell the truth!
- Multiply this number by 2.
- Then add 5.
- Multiply the result by 50.
- If you have already had your birthday this year, add 1757. If you haven’t, add 1756.
- Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
Professor Trelawney recommends 50 points be awarded to your House for each successful result, and 20 points be deducted for each unsuccessful result.

Everyone had a great time at last week's Journey Jamboree. Once again, Mother Nature did not cooperate, and we had to move the festivities to the Litchfield Middle School Cafeteria, but that didn't dampen the fun. After a picnic lunch, it was time for Book Bingo. Every child who played took home a gently used book from the kitty.
