Construction Update

children's room last monthGreat news! The Children's Room project is underway! Currently, the Scott Lawson Group and Envirovantage are hard at work safely removing the lead paint that was re-exposed after the August 2003 flood required the floor be torn out. Their work should be complete by the end of next week. After that, we will have a new concrete cap poured over the existing floor. The concrete will have to cure for 30 days before new carpet can be glued down. During this time, hopefully, walls will be repaired and painted, broken windows replaced, and electrical work completed. Once the carpet is installed, shelving will be reinstalled and the contents of the trailers will be brought back in. The Children's Room should reopen in early fall, after all three summer reading programs are complete, and we can begin to move the collections back into place.

We are very excited to see light at the end of the tunnel after so much time has passed, and we hope you are too!

All Booked Up Reads Three Weeks With My Brother for June

Three Weeks With My Brother by Nicholas Sparks is the June selection for the All Booked Up discussion group. "Sparks's unique memoir, written with his brother, chronicles the life-affirming journey of two brothers bound by memories, both humorous and tragic. In January 2003, Nicholas Sparks and his brother Micah set off on a three-week trip around the world. It was to mark a milestone in their lives, for at 37 and 38 respectively, they were now the only surviving members of their family. As Nicholas and Micah travel the globe, the intimate story of their family unfolds in the details of the untimely deaths of their parents and only sister. Against the backdrop of the wonders of the world, the Sparks brothers band together to heal, to remember, and to learn to live life to the fullest." (from the Publisher)

Books are available at the Circulation Desk. Join the gang on June 6th at 6:30 p.m. for a great discussion!
